Our mission
The Ministry of Transport exists to keep Links Land moving safely and efficiently, by maintaining a well-regulated national road network, ensuring vehicles and drivers on that network are properly registered and licensed, and providing sound policy oversight of public transit services.
Our remit
The Ministry's remit covers everything that moves on land within Links Land:
- Roads — maintenance, road safety programmes, and infrastructure oversight of the national road network.
- Vehicle registration and licensing — registering vehicles, issuing the national number plate, and administering driving licences.
- Public transit — policy and oversight of public transit services across Links Land.
As Links Land has no coastline or airport requiring dedicated regulation, the Ministry's mandate is focused entirely on land transport; ports and aviation do not fall within its remit.
Within the Government of Links Land
The Ministry of Transport is one of the departments of the Government of Links Land, operating under the Constitutional Monarchy of Links Land and accountable to Parliament for the exercise of its functions. It works alongside other government departments to ensure transport policy is coordinated with the wider work of government.
Road traffic law, including the Highway Code, is maintained separately on the Government of Links Land's legislation site; this Ministry site focuses on describing the Ministry's remit and the services it provides to citizens and residents.
