Services
The Ministry of Transport's services fall into three areas: roads, vehicle registration and licensing, and public transit.
Roads
Maintaining and improving the national road network.
The Ministry of Transport is responsible for the maintenance, safety, and infrastructure oversight of roads across Links Land. This includes routine maintenance and resurfacing, road safety programmes aimed at reducing collisions and improving conditions for all road users, and oversight of major infrastructure projects that expand or upgrade the national road network.
Rules for using the road network are set out in the Highway Code, which is maintained separately on the Government of Links Land's legislation site.
Vehicle Registration & Licensing
Registering vehicles and issuing driving licences.
Every vehicle kept or used on Links Land's roads must be registered with the Ministry of Transport. Registration links a vehicle to its keeper and issues the vehicle a national number plate in the standard Links Land format, shown below.
The Ministry also administers driving licences, including new applications and renewals, as part of its vehicle registration and licensing function. Full requirements and procedures are set out in road traffic legislation on the Links Land legislation site.
Every vehicle registered in Links Land carries a plate in this format: the blue Euro-style band with the “LL” country code, a six-character registration (e.g. 00XYZ), and a county code (e.g. SJ for the plate shown) followed by the year of registration.
Public Transit
Policy and oversight for public transit across Links Land.
The Ministry of Transport sets policy for, and provides oversight of, public transit services across Links Land, working with transit operators to help ensure services are reliable, safe, and accessible.
For questions about specific routes, schedules, or transit services, contact the Ministry and select “Public Transit” as the inquiry category.
